R.J. Axtell, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician who joined Saltzer Health in June 2020.
Prior to joining Saltzer Health, Dr. Axtell worked at St. Luke’s Mountain View Medical Center and St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center. He has provided care to infants, children, and adults of the Treasure Valley since 2010.
Dr. Axtell completed his residency with the Family Medicine Residency of SW Washington in 2007. He earned his medical degree with honors from the University of Washington School of Medicine, where he is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He is a graduate of the College of Idaho with a bachelor’s degree in biology with honors.
Dr. Axtell’s personal philosophy: “Core values in my practice of medicine are compassion, integrity, competency, and availability. I strive to treat all with respect, follow evidence-based guidelines where they exist, act with humility, and be responsible for my patients and staff. As your primary care physician, I see my role as a guide to ease your passage over life’s often bumpy road.”
His personal interests include mountain biking, fishing, wakeboarding, snowboarding, reading, and spending time with family.
