Physician Biography

Raised in Durham, North Carolina, Dr. Van Dyke completed his undergraduate education at Duke University where he double majored in biomedical engineering and mechanical engineering. Upon graduation, he worked for a year as a biomedical engineer with the Artificial Heart Program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He attended medical school in Kirksville, Missouri, at A.T. Still University. He then completed a five-year residency in orthopedic surgery at Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, through Ohio University and OhioHealth. He completed training in all types of general orthopedic surgery including trauma, fracture care, sports injuries, pediatrics, hand surgery, joint replacements, and more. He spent an additional year doing fellowship training at the Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Center in Westerville, Ohio, focusing on advanced foot and ankle surgery such as ankle replacement and complex foot reconstruction.

When he is not at work, Dr. Van Dyke enjoys all kinds of outdoor activities including skiing, soccer, cycling, hiking, and camping. He is an avid fan of Duke basketball and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is married with two children. They are enjoying raising their family in Eastern Idaho in a family-friendly community with such great access to the mountains and wilderness.

His patient care focuses on understanding what is causing a patient's problem and offering several treatment options to help the patient achieve their goals. He is able to offer both non-surgical and surgical treatment options, and then help patients decide what will work best for them on an individual basis. His greatest satisfaction through work is seeing his patients heal and successfully return to life without pain or limitations.
