Physician Biography
Dr. Mark Harris joined Idaho Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2007. He completed a combined degree program in Medical School with a Master’s in Public Health and Medical Doctorate at the University of Utah in 2003. He completed an internship and residency at East Carolina University in 2007. He is board certified through the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
Dr. Harris choose to specialize in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation after he shadowed a PMR doctor for a day in medical school. He really liked the way the doctor was able to treat a broad range of disorders and help restore function through the use of therapy, exercise, medications, and procedures. He feels like restoring function and independence is one of the most important things for anyone. His passions within the PMR field are seeing patients become more functional and independent in several different ways. He loves to see someone change their lifestyle and become more active with regular exercise. To have a patient say that he has helped them to change their life really makes him feel like he is accomplishing best outcomes in medicine. He loves to see people start to exercise on their own, lose weight, and stop smoking. He feels like these have the best long term effects on their life and thus future happiness, their whole life changes when they can function at a higher level.
His hobbies include spending time with his wife and five children, riding bikes, hiking, running, playing soccer, and snowboarding. He spends a lot of time with church youth activities and team sports in which his children are involved. He served a two year LDS mission in Ecuador and has been intimately involved with the Boy Scouts for decades.
