Physician Biography
Dr. Dunay is a Board-Certified Geriatrician and Family Physician, with extensive experience in Geriatric Primary Care, Geriatric Specialty Consultation, Home-Based Primary Care, Palliative Care, and Skilled Nursing Facility Medical Direction. She is Medical Director of the Idaho State Veterans Home – Boise, where she has served throughout the COVID pandemic. She is the managing member of Keystone Center for Geriatrics, and serves as Medical Director of Keystone Health, and Associate Medical Director of Keystone Hospice.
Dr. Dunay hails from the Appalachian Mountains of southwest Virginia. She studied Chemistry and Religion as an undergraduate at Duke University. She attended the University of Virginia School of Medicine, where she was a member of the Generalist Scholars Program, earning a Master of Public Health Degree, and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She attended the Family Medicine Residency of Idaho, where she served as Chief Resident and received the Resident Teacher Award her senior year. She completed her Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at the Mountain Area Health Education Center of the University of North Carolina, where she completed a research study on Geriatric Patient Health Activation and participated in the American Medical Directors Association Geriatric Futures Program.
Following Fellowship, Dr. Dunay and her husband returned to Idaho, for their love of the outdoors and the people. She worked at the Boise VAMC as an Academic Geriatrician, Medical Director of the Community Living Center, and Acting Chief of Medicine. She was ultimately promoted to regional Director of Rehabilitation and Geriatrics for Veterans Integrated Service Area 20 (Pacific NW). When COVID struck, Dr. Dunay pivoted from her administrative role in the VA to direct patient care by joining the Keystone Family. She maintains an academic appointment with the University of Washington, allowing her to teach Medical Students, Residents and Geriatric Medicine Fellows at patient’s bedsides.
Dr. Dunay and her husband have one son who is joyful delight. The family plays golf and tennis, swims, bikes, camps and skis. Dr. Dunay also enjoys reading and writing, especially poetry.
